J19 Agriculture’s Story

My entire career has been spent in agriculture. After graduating from Mississippi State University, I went to work in a precision agriculture support role at Jimmy Sanders Inc., a large retail agriculture business in the Mississippi Delta. After two years I chose to leave and work in my mother and father’s family farming operation for two years. During that time I was approached with an opportunity to be a Territory Manager for Ag Leader Technology. I made a difficult decision to leave the family business and try something new while I was young and able. While at Ag Leader I was blessed to network with many great people and enhance my business and sales acumen. As my family grew and my responsibilities with Ag Leader grew, it became difficult for me to focus as much as needed on my young family. I once again made a difficult decision to leave Ag Leader (on good terms) and find a career closer to home.

During the first few years of my career I routinely was asked by farmers, “Will you help me with my data?” I noticed a growing need and started to see a gap in what was offered in the market versus what was actually desired and needed by the customer. I worked with a handful of clients in a very limited scope out of respect for my employer as I never wanted to have a perceived conflict of interest. When I made the decision to leave Ag Leader, J19 Agriculture became open to the public as an independent consultancy. I have a passion for teaching and coaching and growing this business has truly been a fun and rewarding experience. I am thankful for the farmers and businesses that have valued my ability and given me the opportunity to serve as a trusted advisor!
